Stella Toonen is an arts programmer and researcher with expertise in community co-creation practices. She has recently been appointed programme director of World on our Doorstep, a community arts programme in East London, and is currently finishing a PhD with Tate Modern and King’s College London. She is interested in bringing artists, organisations and audiences together to collaborate and find new ways of engaging people with art. The programmes she shapes often feature place-based, participatory and socially-engaged ways of working. Her background is as an exhibition and public programmes producer for museums and arts spaces. She occasionally curates exhibitions too, including an upcoming show of Krištof Kintera’s work in Munich. Stella will be supporting Art School Plus by curating the exhibition/display at Metropolitan Workshops.
