Performance or rehearsal space : Deptford Lounge

Libraries as art-making spaces

Across the library sector, there are many public and private libraries with dedicated performance spaces, such as theatres, auditoriums, screening rooms or lecture halls. Some libraries also house tailored rehearsal spaces for theatre or dance groups, as well as community rooms where local groups might run their own sessions or rehearse. Deptford Lounge is an example of a library space that also offers rehearsal space, including sprung floor, for performance groups and artists. It is run by theatre organisation The Albany, on behalf of Lewisham Council, who own the building.
